This course is for formally trained by having attended our Online Design Thinking Facilitation course or similar, and/or experienced Design Thinking facilitators who seek a higher level of proficiency developing innovation sessions. Whilst the course will be delivered in an online setting, its content is equally applicable to facilitating in an in-person setting.This is a natural progression from our Online Design Thinking Facilitation course. Attendance at a Design Thinkers Academy course is not a prerequisite, however, in order to take part in this course you will need to have been on either our in-person Design Thinking Facilitation course, our Online Design Thinking Facilitation course, one delivered by the wider Design Thinkers group or another equivalent facilitation course, as well as some basic understanding of platforms used to deliver online sessions (e.g. Mural, Miro, etc ). If you’re entirely new to the topic of online facilitation, we’d recommend you attend first our Online Design Thinking Facilitation course. Contact us to check the best course for you and your particular level of experience, so that we ensure you’ll get the best learning experience.
This course is for anyone who wants to:
- Lead the development of impactful workshops, drawing maximum value and impact from your sessions.
- Confidently lead the scoping and framing of workshops, setting yourself for a successful workshop.
- Be able to tailor workshop design and materials to diverse audiences and intended outcomes.
Enable yourself to develop and deliver impactful Design Thinking workshops by learning best practices from experts and putting the shared theory immediately in practice, working in groups on a brief that simulates a real life scenario. Throughout the 4 sessions you’ll become proficient on how to:
1- Frame and scope a workshop brief and challenge;
2 – Understand your user, i.e. know your workshop audience and common biases in how adults approach and best integrate new learnings and information;
3 – Design the Design Thinking process for a workshop, i.e. how to structure sessions, and chose activities and flow;
4 – Detail workshop materials, tailoring them to your user (audience) and brief (intended outcomes);
5 – Develop your awareness of who are “you” as a facilitator – through assessment of your own personal biases, you’ll understand your own comfort and stretch areas.
While not mandatory, you are highly encouraged to start your own facilitation project in parallel to the course. Your personal project can be self-initiated and small. If you decide to do so, this will allow you to apply the theory to your own context throughout the course, and will enable you to contribute more to the group conversations by sharing your own challenges and experiences
