Top design thinking events 2022

Design thinking

The number of design thinking events has naturally decreased over the last few years due to the pandemic. However, with the start of 2022 events are starting to spring up. We’ve pulled together our pick of design and innovation conferences of 2022 from across the globe. If you want to hear the latest ideas and meet others working in this area, check these out.

Design Sprint Camp | TBC

First up on our design thinking events is of course our very own Design Sprint Camp. We recently finished with the first ever edition, taking place online, in partnership with the Carbon Trust. The event brought together 35 participants from around the world, led by 15 expert speakers and coaches.

This year’s event, as before, offers the unique opportunity to join world-class experts in design, innovation and sustainability on a real-world challenge and together share techniques, develop skills and co-create responsible revolutions. It will help you learn to apply design thinking for sustainability, develop new solutions to an environmental brief and meet like minded innovators from around the world. If you want to get an idea of what the Sprint Camp was like, watch the video below.

The dates for the next edition of the Sprint Camp are yet to be confirmed, however if you want to be kept informed, sign up to our Responsible Revolutions newsletter or register interest and we will get in touch with further details.

Future Festival’s 3-day world summit takes place in Toronto and offers the opportunity to “join the world’s brightest insight leaders, from Starbucks & Samsung to Google & NASA, who’ve relied on Future Festival to step back, think big, and spot opportunities with fresh, data-driven insights from the #1 trend firm.” It offers the chance to both learn from keynote speakers and then workshop with other participants “using the same frameworks that supported NASA prototyping their journey to Mars.” On top of that, if big crowds isn’t your thing, they also do a new smaller 1-day event in cities across the states.

Design Thinking Chicago | April 4-6, 2022

Taking place in Chicago, #DesignThinking2022 invites participants to look back on the challenges of the last few years and then “benchmark with one another across the best practices of Design Thinking and doing in modern times.” It features a wide variety of inspiring keynote speakers, with a jam packed schedule to boot.

London Design Festival | September 17-25, 2022

At the Design Thinkers Academy London we naturally love the London Design Festival, and enjoyed presenting there back in 2018 with our Plastics Cloud project with SAP. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store. Keep checking their page for updates when more things get announced.

Design Thinking Conference | October 13-14, 2022

For those that don’t know, the Design Thinkers Academy network started over in the Netherlands, and it’s there that an annual conference is held. It is called ‘Through Different Eyes,’ focusing on the importance of empathy and how we experience reality in different ways’. Join our friends in Amsterdam for a conference ‘filled with new insights, engaging Actors, and ample opportunities to learn and prototype’. What’s not to like?
